I think its pretty clear where I’m already going with this, lol. I started off with the title I chose because of what I’m seeing on a daily bases.  For me personally the days of luxury spending have slowed down a lot. There’s no more “Oh, I want that I think I’ll just go out and buy it tomorrow”.  What I am seeing however is a lot of people  doing some serious wasteful spending. Granted its none of my business and I know that…..I’m just making an observation lol.

Maybe some people are spending the way they are because things haven’t affected them as of yet, or maybe they just have it like that. Although  I highly doubt that most of the people I know or see wasting money really “Got it like that”. Now I can see people spending and splurging here and there because that just may be what they’re used to and I myself am guilty of that from time to time, but at least make sure you’re priorities are taken care of first. That’s just a given, lol.

Don’t go out spending doe on new clothes….when your child’s tuition isn’t paid for the month. Don’t go spending money for new rims…..when you can’t even make your car note. Don’t go buying new cell phones…. when you can’t keep it connected. You get the point I’m trying to make.

Sometimes things can get out of hand real quick though because people don’t know HOW to manage their funds. A perfect example of this would be the spending of these stimulus checks and OH YEA how could I forget its tax time!! So now what happens to the average person who doesn’t know how to manage their money you ask? This is what happens. They trick themselves into believing they have this EXTRA money that they really don’t and the money is spent in their heads before they’ve even received it. Sad, oh so sad.  You might hear things like “oooo weee I got  that tax money coming through and I can’t wait to cop that new TV.” or “When I get my stimulus check/tax refund I’m gonna go on vacation.” Rarely do I hear people talk about saving that money, investing that money….or even PAYING BILLS with that money. That’s nuts to me! lol

On a rare occasion I’ve had people ask me for help with investing extra cash they come across and by the time I go to help them…..the money has already been spent on some foolishness.  Then when I ask them what was so important that they had to spend the extra money on  I get a dumb look in return. Maybe some people just like to stay broke, I don’t know. I do know however that I for one am not one of those people.

So yea it kind of makes me upset when I see people I know, especially those I am close to, spending money wastefully and digging a deeper hole for themselves. then that feeling of being upset just turns to disappointment when the same people  who just wasted a couple of thousand of dollars complain about not being able to eat or not being able to pay a bill. Well you should have thought about that before you went and spent that money you really didn’t have.

So for those who are in the same recession that I am going through, be smart people. Spend/Invest your money wisely, things are different right now.

and for those that have money burning a hole in their pockets…enjoy while you can becuase its obvious your in a  different kind of recession…..I guess, lol

yep, i know plenty of folks who are supposed to be “grown” and have NO idea of priorities. smh damn shame then my ears gotta be filled with complaints when they DONT have it. Deep down inside i secretly watch and wait for shit to hit the fan for them for the perfect “smh, damn thats fucked up” moment lol yes evil i know lol

Oh yea, most definitely. You can try to help people out but so much by giving them advice. It gets to the point where thats all you can do it sit back and wait for that moment. Then say “I told you so” or even better just give them the silent stare with a head shake showing disappointment lol.

i hear what you are saying. i feel that there should be some kind of balance. i mean, i don’t think that people should just stop living just because we are in recession. and if you are fortunate and blessed enough that it hasn’t effected you yet, then by all means you deserve a lil suttin suttin every now and then. but don’t go buck wild with it. like you said, make sure bills and stuff are paid first and foremost. or else be willing to work extra hard to support your spending habbits so you don’t dig yourself into a hole. and remember that having a job is a blessing, especially in these times we are living in. don’t get into that “ima pay that bill off with the next pay check so i can go shopping this week” mentality, cuz with people losing their jobs everyday, you really can’t be to sure if that next paycheck is coming. that said, take care of your priorties first. after that, what you do what yo money is yo business.

Oh yea I agree totally. I’m not saying stop all together. People just need to be a little wiser with it. Like you said theres no guarantee that the next check will be coming!

And yea what people do with their money is their business totally. I just hate when they come to me complaining about I’m broke, which is just the consequence of their actions lol.

I hear exactly what you are saying, but I somewhat disagree. I think before and after the recession most folks spent foolishly, this is an inevitable problem. However, hoarding onto money will not stimulate the economy either. Remember a stable economy is a balancing act…the money you put into it, the more it could give back. Buy an American car, save Americans jobs! Ya know?! Go on American Airlines on vacation…American Airlines will pay their good pilots and stop hiring the cheap ones. Fly all the time and you may not die (just playing). If you didn’t have a good credit before the recession and couldn’t get a loan (in order to invest)…yea it’s more likely you’ll get one now (b/c the housing market is desperate), but you may lose your job and may not be able to afford payments. Also we can’t expect people to all of a sudden become educated on finances because “they need to be”. Plus, most people that are seriously feeling the effects of the recession because they either haven’t lost their job yet or they don’t OWN a house. I think this is why President Obama created a site for people to start community based projects. There needs to be serious education given to the community about what is a recession and how to keep their heads’ above water during times such as these. I mean people will lives their lives according to their own will until SHIT really goes down…and then you shake your head and say to yourself “I told you so”. Peace. And Good night! hehe

    Sorry about the errors….

I suck at typing plus I don’t proof read, but I’m sure you get it.

But one of the sentences above I meant to say, something to the effects of…MOST people really don’t know the severity of the recession b/c they either (A) haven’t lost they job or (B) don’t OWN a home.

  5. MrWoods says:

Yea I see where your coming from but I never said anything about hoarding money. I agree thats not a good thing to do either and everyone knows the only thing that makes money is money. You’re right about people living their lives how they want to until things hit rock bottom for them….and at that point I guess I can come in and say “I told you so” :P

and what you talking about Good night….its 7:43pm EASTERN STANDARD TIME :-)
